Good Old Games
I got into the gog.com beta, and it’s really awesome. And they’re running a Buy One Get One Free deal for beta users…
…so I bought Fallout. And got Fallout 2 free. And with both games comes the soundtracks, wallpapers, the original manuals, a reference card, and avatars.
All for $6. And it’s DRM free. And with a resolution patch, it’ll be running at 1024×600 on this Wind rather nicely.
GOG is truly something good for gamers. Although you could easily pirate some of these games, why bother when they’re so cheap? They all work on XP and Vista, have excellent support, and are the latest versions. You can download them as many times as you want, and they come in a .exe so you can back them up wherever. There’s no Steam-esque program, no validation, nothing. And it’s a breath of fresh air. So check them out when they go public - it’s truly something remarkable.
But what games do they have, I hear you ask. At the time of writing, here’s their list of games:
Out of that list, the ones I would recommend are Fallout 1 and 2, Original War, Soldiers:HOWW2, and Operation Flashpoint GOTY. The latter two are a steal at $10.
So yeah, check them out. They’re adding games all the time. Why not reward their dedication to us with dedication in return?
