I could play this Forever
Trackmania Nations Forever has been released. And just like Trackmania Nations, it’s every bit as addictive and just as free.
You can download it either on Steam or on various other gaming sites (links here). It’s about 500mb.
And it’s so, so addictive. It’s simple, easy to pick up, but it gets difficult quite quickly. And with the huge numbers of races available, you can simply leave one that’s giving you trouble and finish another one. With each race giving three medals (Gold, Silver, and Bronze obviously) the desire to go back and at least try to get that gold medal is ever present. Even if there’s no way of doing it.
It’s very much an arcade racer, and it looks pretty. Forever add so much more than the original, with dirt tracks, new toys, and lots of other stuff in, not to mention the huge new wealth of races on offer. Some of them are ‘recycled’ from TMN but they’re almost always the best races so even if you’ve done them before it’s still a joy to re-attempt.
So yeah, check it out. It’s a nice pick up and play game, with short races on offer (with instant restarts too). But what usually is a 20 minute racing session usually ends up lasting an hour. Oops.
In other news, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl review is up on Zero Punctuation. I do like ZP, and Mr. Yahtzee. Even if I disagree with what he’s saying, he always manages to make me laugh some way or another. And I definitely do agree with him this week. I never enjoyed Melee, and I doubt I’ll like Brawl when I eventually get around to playing it on my Wii. Do I even have a Wii anymore? I haven’t used it in months.
