Planet Terror
I got Planet Terror in the mail today, and watched it pronto.
And it’s damn good. Damn good. It really is.
If you’re a fan of Sin City (Like me) or any of Mr. Rodriguez’s previous works, you’re sure to love this. It’s absolutely spot on in it’s goal - to be a totally over-the-top stupidfest.
Gore, sex, violence, gore, zombies, gore, and gore are everywhere in this film. Did I mention gore? Oh, yeah. The red stuff is everywhere in this film. The whole thing has an overwhelming feeling of dirt, from the sets to the characters, to even the film itself - the scratched, burnt, old-fashioned affair that it is. And it’s funny, too.
Death Proof, too, is pretty damn good. I’ve seen it before but I got that on DVD today too.
My only gripe is that the excellent trailers that were in the US Cinema edition of Grindhouse aren’t present on the DVD editions. The only one here is Machete at the start of Planet Terror, but the others are completely AWOL. Which is really annoying as I want to see the trailer for Don’t in real-vision, not teeny-weeny-eye-strain-o-vision.
Although the Grindhouse DVD is coming out soon, I wanted to see Planet Terror now, not have to wait. I won’t be buying the Grindhouse DVD either, even if it does come with the trailers. It’s just silly, and I don’t know why they’ve done this - it wouldn’t be so hard at all to put them on the bonus DVDs.
