The Cactus Farmer (A Sims 2 Experiment)
With the announcement of The Sims 3 (Scans up here in case you’ve missed this trend) I decided I’d have another go at The Sims 2.
The Sims and I, we have an understanding. I have a tendency to get the urge to play The Sims, and then end up getting bored. This time, though, things will be different.
So, I raided the office for all the Sims 2 games. Turns out my sister bought them all. Wow. Even Family Fun. What on earth? And she complains that her computer never has any hard drive space.
I returned to my computer, and installed The Sims 2, and Open for Business. This would be all I would need.
I would create… A Cactus Farmer. Seeing as The Sims 2 and OfB don’t have crops of any kind, Cactus’ is this Farmer’s business. I remembered crops in The Sims 1, in Unleashed. Shame they’re not in The Sims 2.
This would be an experiment, and a challenge. I would try and stick with The Sims 2 as long as possible. I usually give up shortly after finishing building stuff, so this would be a real challenge. (But building stuff is so fun!)
I set out to create my lone farmer.
Now I had the farmer look down, now to set the personality.

Yeah, he’s a complete bastard. Gerrof his land!
Now, onto the… hey, wait a minute. Turn-ons?!
The perfect opportunity to let loose his secret desire of a woman wearing underpants, while still wearing a hat. Nice. The addition of ‘Beards’ was a clear one - he doesn’t like beards on females. It’s just wierd.
Now, with Mr. Hermes done, soon he’ll be moving into his new home. Stay tuned!
Sims Veterans: Is there anything in the expansion packs that would be of worth to use for my Cactus Farmer? Or do you have any custom items that would be awesome? Comment Away!

The Seasons expansion has crops for ya. You can’t sell cacti, unfortunately. And there are LOTS of hacks and downloads available to completely customize your business. Try searching on http://sims2wiki.info/
