The Sims 3, PCGUK Scans
Here’s scans of The Sims 3 article in the latest PC Gamer (April 2008).
I had to reduce the quality on most of the images to make them small enough to be easily downloaded. What may look like terrible graphics may simply be the low-quality image in action.
Although I’m not a huge Sims fan, this looks interesting indeed. If you feel the need to pass these scans around, please be so kind as to give me some credit – but of course, also give credit to the guys at PCGamerUK. They’re awesome.

Wow! That looks fantastic!
I really like the look if it so far! The faces look so much smoother and more natural, not the edgy, cartoon look of Sims 2. And the new bodyshapes looks fun. I hope this won’t make it hard for creators of custom clothes though. At present some of them can’t even make a fat-morph…
“Click here to feed him” reminded me a bit of Tamagotchi…
They said only one town ships with the game, but if we can make our own towns then this game will have all I could ask for.
Tgg, I think this is realy fake. I don’t mean that the pictures aren’t right, but I think The Sims 2 is looking a mutch beter than Sims 3 ever will do! :O
@Ilse: These aren’t fake. The graphics don’t look great, but that’s because I had to drop the quality a load.
At the end of the day, The Sims 2 looked good enough. What I want from The Sims 3 is more features, extendability, more options, and more everything. And it certainly seems that is what is going to happen.

I love the way the sims look..as far as looking more realistic! Just everything looks great and I can’t wait to see actualy videos and movement and learn about more features. It almost reminds me of the first sims 2 trailer..but thanks for posting cause I really didn’t want to get the magazine lol, but I might!
I have bought every sims game and expansion pack ever. Though it was sad to see the sims go,i was equally happy to finally play the sims2. I like the fact that EA is evolutionising the way we play.Every year video games get upgrades to what worked for the developers the previous year and though we had to wait 4-5 years,Thank heavens for expansion packs.

Hi, I would like to know, what do they mean under the concept of grind? What is grind in The Sims 3?
‘Grinding’ usually refers to doing something repeatedly. It’s usually referenced to an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, where you must repeat tasks endlessly to level up.
Grinding can be viewed in Sims as repeatedly performing a task in order to max your Sims skills out – such as repeatedly exercising to increase the body skill.
This is very cool. I like the sims 2 and it was fun. but now sims 3 will be better, its a shame that i stressed out to get the sims 2 deluxe edition, and now i wont play it bcuz theres now sims 3. But i dont care this is going to be the best game yet. LOOK at the graphics they look amazing, and will rock.

when u go to a commmunity lot will u be able to park in a parking lot?

Are you kidding naomi? They freaking made it one big seamless map. That’s a HUGE improvement.
Man, I am so excited for this- I mean the graphics look AWESOME, and the new features sound great. So far, this looks like everything I expected it to be. I really want to know what the minimum system requirements are though- because it might strain my computer with it’s awesomeness.
The game is hideous, I am in shock. Looks awful to me.
I agree with Ingridtk, when I saw the news in my mail that there was a sims3 I instantly pulled it up and was freaking out by calling everyone in my house into my room but when I got to the actual site I said “omg no no no no no!” The people look like people on a video game, not computer game. To me the people do NOT look more realistic in any way shape or form. The background graphics ARE amazing and I do like the fact that you can roam the neighborhood but the other homes are going to run without you. Will they marry, get another job, or die without you knowing? I get scared just thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I hope the teens wont stay teens for forever and be a great great great aunt and still be young. I don’t like the fact that there is no needs to be filled, it sounds boring to me because when I use maxmotives and other cheats of that sort I get bored very quickly. Over all this is disappointing I was really looking forward to having a totally awesome game with great graphics that made me go “wow I can’t wait!” instead of “omg no!”
I think that this game is going to be great! The fact that they are making the world more open and allowing players to go from house to house or community lots without loading screens is awesome. I think that the graphics look good, and we should keep in mind that the game is still being developed so the graphics could improve before the game comes out. I actually like the fact that other sims’ lives will go on while I play one family. We all know that there is that one family member that we never get around to playing, so the fact that life goes on for other sims sounds great. I like the idea that there won’t be a needs bar, because it’s being replaced. Sims will still have needs, we just won’t have to spend our time watching a bar go down. I am very excited and can’t wait for this game to hit the shelves!
Wow!!!! I read everyones comments! and most of them are right! The gaming idea sounds REALLY REALLY Great something new, but… I was disapointed in the look of the new sims! they look like fiona from shrek lol and those online games Supple! Their face look very nice and realistic but their body i dont know looks kinda weird to me. Their hair is hedious! looks pretty fake! What also worries me is when it says that players can play in real time with the sims! WUT!!!??? soo does that mean i have to wait 9 months for the mom to deliever her baby! one year for the baby to turn one! Its crazy. Like i said the concept and some of the graphics are great but somethings seema like they shouldnt have mess with. I am looking foward to the new freedome sims will have and also the new create a home concept! its looks pretty neat! other than that It just looks like its going to be going back to square one again with the Sims 3. I give it 3 stars!

Awsome stuff.. now I hope I can get hold of the mag myself. The only thing I hate.. is that we are getting all this info and we have to wait a year or perhaps longer to play the game! >< get’s. I love everyones comments but those people who are complaining that it looks crap or that there’s something not there that you think would make it better, remember:
They’re still making it.
And anyway, he wont have told us about everything, he wants to keep people excited and amazed when they actually play it. They don’t want people to know everything about it before they start playing.
I personally think it looks great and I always wanted to be able to walk my sim around the place and not have lots.

Marie: I wouldn’t like to wait that long either, maybe they wont do real-time though because The Sims is good because it isn’t real time and you don’t have to wait for ages etc. Of course, like i said before, they’re trying to make it more realistic.
I wouldn’t give it 5 stars, maybe 4.
When I saw the sims 3 was coming out I got real exited!!!! I got the sims 2 but I don’t play it that often I prefer to play Bustin’ out but I’m begging my dad 2 buy it 4 me as a christmas present & I’m not gonna let any of my friends touch it!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh I’m hoping that Sims3 will be magical cause right now i’ve got a real bad view of it so far. it looks slightly ‘bland’ to me so yeah. i hope they can prove me wrong and come out with something AMAZING. they have so far, so let the games begin! ;D
oh great they take the time to point out that the best selling ep for sims 2 was pets….i hope they remember that pets was also a total dissapointment….and they should not use pets as a good example of what they should strive for in sims3.
On a side note could you imagine the pc specs needed to run this game..ouch..

so like yea, hopefully one of the sims3 designers will see our comments and work off of them. or sims3 shouldn’t be expecting so many sales as sims2

I LOVE SIMS
I bought all the ep’s for sims2 and some for sims1 and i really love sims2 though after a few months i got bored with it coz I love to see my sims neighbors grow up even I don’t play with them, sims3 is quite exciting since they’ll marry and grow old without me playing all of them. I would love to see my sims working in an office,hotel,shops,restos,city halls,etc. and i also love my sims kids going to school/universities and see them, too, my simparents would be able to meet their teachers/professors. Of course, apartment life is exciting too. I love pets in real life but I don’t like pets in sims, quite nuisance,heh? In CAS, I hope that I can create a toddler with grandma and grandpa only. And no more mystery sims please?

Sims 3 looks like it is going to be amazing. The freedom to stroll through the neighbourhood is the best thing iv’e ever heard of!!! The major thing that bothered me about sims 1 & 2 was the constant lot blocks and stopping and starting.
I dont know why some people are put off by the graphics they look amazing i think the faces/hair/body types look soooo more realistic than previous sims. They dont look like they were carved out of blocks.
I think as far as what we know now it looks exciting and much better than previous games but i still think there will be more surprises to come and the idea of that is enough for me to be one of the 1st inline to get my hands on a copy. CANT WAIT!!!!!

I love how u can change the body types so much, the fat or not from the sims 2 was pretty lame, plus having no loading screens is gonna be sooo awesome! Im so sick of them. I dont think the faces are puffy, well the fat womans was but u kno thats it. The detail is gonna be awesome and I think that we can talk all we want about this but nothing could probably describe the level of detail these people have accomplished, its pure genious and its amazing! I cant wait for ‘09. Whats this i hear about spring? I sure hope so!!! -Heather

I think for sims 3 they should let sims go to space and start a coliny or somthing or have one where sims can go around a sim world you make and your nieghbor hood will be apart of everyone elses and your sims can vote for presidents or somthing and move like to a sim china and that different people can move into differnt peoples nieghborhoods but cant mess anything up.
Ohhh wow. I’m so excited for this now! I currently have The Sims 2, Pets, and Seasons. I was planning on getting more expansion packs for 2… but now that 3 is coming out, I don’t think I will!
I would like to know whether they will have vampires and werewolves in expansion packs/the original game, or if they’re not adding those at all.

I have all the expansions for the 1st sims… and i have nightlife,family fun,university, pets, teen style stuff; for the sims 2.
-I honestly, do not see why people are saying the graphics suck. I just spent 30 minutes or more reading this entire page+the magazine. And all i have to say about that is “THEY AREN’T DONE YET!”. And everyones saying “It’s not real looking at all”, oh come on- do we have to remind you it’s a GAME?
-It’s not going to perfectly match real life, no matter how good it looks. It just wont happen(Atleast not for a very long time). I personaly LIKE how it looks like anime characters(Like in final fantasy). It looks like it came straight from a console game.
-The only thing i don’t like are that they are geting rid of the bars. you know, the ones that say “Bladder, hunger, room” etc etc. I know they are trying to make it realistic, i really do. but thats one of the reasons i like the game, taking care of the needs. I dunno’ why i jsut did. so thats probubly why i’ll still play the sims 2 after(also considering how much money i’ve put into the game).
-BUT, i love the fact that i can play 1 family and my other family will age at the same time. because i hated having 3 siblings and then having 1 go off to college and the other 2 staying in their teens.
-In my opinion: The series has come a very long way. And i’m excited to be able to play the 3rd. But…
- my only concern is “Will my computer be able to run this game?”. At first, my computer could barely run the 2nd. My step dad has been upgrading it a little at a time… and now the sims 2 is fine. but, what about the 3rd? will it be laggy and crash all the time…to? I dunno, wish me luck.
ps: I hope they dont kill me with making a bunch of expansions. +i hope the 3rd sims doesn’t cost a crap load(even though i kinda know it will). -Sorry for writeing so much hahaha.

Well, I’m so excited! From the very first game, I always thought about “hey, when can they make all the people in the Sims able to move freely in a city?” and look at that!
I’m sure this is what gamers have been waiting for. But I’m just a bit scared to think about the hardware requirements of this game *sigh*

I cannot wait to get this game! I was shocked at the graphics that people were talking about because I read some of the comments first. Come on, this is not how the game will actually look people, sheesh, I am sure that the graphics will be really good.
As for the people who are saying they won’t get it, I guess I just don’t see why. I like the Sims 1 fine, but as soon as the Sims 2 came out I got it a couple months later and never looked back. I am sure the same thing will happen to you. LOL After you play an upgrade of one thing it’s hard to go back.

I know this comment is kind of late, but I don’t care. I am SOOO excited for The Sims 3. I’m sure its out in late Feb. or something, but I’m getting it in eary March. Cool with me! I rented The Sims 3, since I don’t really find the The Sims 3: Collector’s Edition that big of a deal. Ooo! Plumbob stickers and an ingame European-sports car! Gimme a bloody break. I can download the same sports car off of some The Sims 3 downloading site. >w<

I have got to say that Sims 2 is a very addictive game. The graphs are nice and its easy to download. I keep seeing all the little Ads for Sims 3 and I keep thinking how nice it would be if there was apartment buildings….houses are nice….but I would like to see the nosy landlord and the tentants complain about the rent too high, sims get a notice on their apt doors. I am kind of sick of houses. I want my sims to earn their way to a nice house.

When I first heard about sims 3 coming out, honestly, i wasn’t very excited. I thought it would be pretty lame because there aren’t many changes. But i was totally wrong and after watching a few trailers and reading some articles i practically frieaked out. The graphics and personality traits are great.And finally the game isn;t like get up-work-use-eat. That’s not the important thing in peoples lives and after all this is a SIMULATOR, so these changes are important for games like that and i can’t understand all the dissapointment. Hair looks fake? Well hello, look at the older sims. Don’t tell me THAT looks real. I kinda agree the sims instead of looking edgy now look squishy and like fiona from shrek. But that’s still good, and a game can;t reach realistic perfection, that;s what real life is for, da. And it’s logical that the aging won’t be real time. No one would wait that long, use yer brains sometimes, will ya?
Yes! Tomarrow is New Year’s day so that means The Sims 3 is closer to coming out! I’m not much of a Sims fan to tell the truth but for Christmas I got the Sims 2 Castaway and loved it! So now I think, after seeing trailers and reading these awesome pages, that the Sims 3 might get me hooked! It looks so awesome and I don’t see whats not tot like about it.

well i dont think that is exactly what they are going to look like. im pretty sure they’re not 100 percent complete with making the game. there will probably be sharper images and graphics once it’s done and out. for people who say it looks wrong..ish…. i think it looks a little strange but it is alot more realistic. and i know thats not the only shape of lips and face u can have i mean why would they take out a great face edit like that? the new graphics seem to be more realistic and thats why they look strange to people. im not completely “that looks so freakin awesome now!!” about it but i will get used to the better graphics and surely appreciate the kick-ass game to follow!! GRRRR, CANT WAIT!

personally i would think it a little strange if the sims looked “realistic.” think of all the crazy and some times down right creepy things you can make your sims do…don’t you think it might get a little weird if they looked like actual people?It’s a game not real life…
